[Original test drive] is the kind of car that can meet general business purposes and is very suitable for traveling with a family, but it’s a pity that this time it’s just a simple test drive. Another media test drive editor and I are sitting in a seat as comfortable as a leather sofa, driving in the traffic of Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway. This is a pure American model, and the interior and exterior design of the car is more about the needs of the Americans. There are not many things that China consumers care about in face. The greatest pleasure of driving this car is probably the scene I described above, and the extremely comfortable and lazy lifestyle is something we want but never pursue.
● This experience model
The 2014 Angkor, which was just launched in April, has launched two models, both of which are equipped with 3.6V6 and matched with a 6-speed automatic manual transmission. However, there is a big gap between the official pricing of the two models, which is 140,000 yuan, and there is not much difference in configuration. We look at the configuration table and find that it is mainly tyre size, function, function, and so on. The obvious difference is that the high-end model uses a four-wheel drive system, while the low-end model uses a predecessor. Our test drive is a high-end version, and the four-wheel drive enjoys the flagship type.
● American style
As a medium and large 7-seat SUV, the 2014 Angkor is relatively large in its class in terms of body size, with the length, width and height of 5113×2007×1842mm respectively.
The tires are DUELER H/L series tires, which are used for positioning SUVs, and the tires have more road performance. The specification is 255/55 R20. In fact, American SUVs always prefer large-size tires. The size of the 2014 Angkor tire is not small, and the 20-inch rim is the standard size. During the test drive, we found that the noise control of 2014 Angkor tires is quite good, even at high speed, the road noise is very small, which will be introduced in detail in the test drive later.
● Interior changes are concentrated in the center console.
The overall shape of the interior of the 2014 Angkor is not much different from that of the old models, and it is still a very typical American style. The mix and match design of wood grain and bright silver decorative strips is widely used in the old models, which has been basically cancelled in the 2014 Angkor model and replaced by a large area of leather material, which increases the sense of luxury and enhances the touch.
The upper part of the center console is made of brown leather, and the lower part is made of slightly hard plastic, which feels ordinary, but the texture is thick, not that kind of thin plastic.
The steering wheel buttons feel very good and have moderate strength, which is the kind of tough texture. However, what needs to be spit out is that the position of the button is designed to be slightly lower, and personally feel that the button can be more integrated. On the one hand, it is a bit difficult for beginners to use it. On the other hand, even if they are familiar with the button, they often need to look down to find the button when using it. It is a function designed for convenience, and its practicality is greatly reduced.
The LCD screen at the top of the center console is relatively high. When displaying the navigation map video, the driver’s line of sight can be easily looked straight, and there is no need to bow his head. It is a humanized design. Praise one.
The left side of the jack next to it is the SD card slot, and the right side is the AUX and USB interfaces. It’s okay to use USB, so you can always plug it in here. If you use AUX, this position is a little too high. If the mobile phone or player is placed under the center console, the plug line will always be pulled down, which is inconvenient. The general practice is that the AUX interface is placed at the bottom of the center console, or in a glove box or box, so that the wires are not all exposed.
The following 7-inch LCD screen is mainly used for multimedia control, and also uses touch control. The main function keys next to it are also touch control, which has a strong sense of technology, but this is not a common design style of the model.
The car we test-drive is equipped with sound, and the sound effect is very good. In addition, the sound insulation effect of the 2014 Angkor is not bad, and the overall sound experience can reach 80 points.
The design of the gear handle is exactly the same as that of the old model, and it feels very thick and thick, which is also a typical American style. Manual gear shifting adopts key mode, and the position of the key is on the left side of the gear head.
