"New Ivy League" Children’s Book List: A Winter Holiday Spiritual Meal for Children
Recently, the seventh "New Ivy" winter vacation children’s book list was officially released, and new children’s literature works such as Happiness Class, Nezha with Eight Arms and Magpie Nest were selected.
Adhere to the guidance of literature and describe the warm world with diversified themes.
The "New Ivy" winter vacation children’s book list was initiated by Shanghai Children’s Reading Promotion Association, Shanghai Children’s Library, Shanghai Primary and Secondary School Students’ Reading Activity Promotion Association, Shanghai Book City, Century Duoyun, Shanghai China-Japan Children’s Literature and Art Exchange Association, and Xiaoxianggu Reading House. The organizers received the recommended books from more than 20 domestic publishing institutions, covering the hot topics in the current children’s book market, and the overall recommended works maintained a high standard, reflecting the changes and trends in the children’s book publishing market. In the end, while insisting on literariness and ensuring interest, in order to take into account the reading needs of young readers of different ages, after two rounds of strict and fair screening, a total of 12 high-quality works were selected for the list.
Among the recommended works in literature, there are many latest works by famous children’s literature writers. They always treat each creation with a completely new attitude, combine skillful writing skills with profound life experience, describe the simple and sincere feelings of the dispatched people, and show the mental outlook of teenagers in different times. Mr. Zhou Rui, who takes the promotion of Peking Opera culture as his responsibility, brought his new work "Nezha with Eight Arms", which completely reproduces the struggle of a generation of Peking Opera teenagers with rich details and the combination of reality and reality. Mr. Jian Ping, a well-known children’s literature writer, devoted himself to the creation of the prose collection "Grass is Bold and unrestrained", using poetic and warm style to look back on the difficult years of childhood and complete a spiritual dialogue through time and space; Known as "contemporary Bing Xin", Ms. Qin Wenjun returned to the present and told a beautiful and romantic "Happiness Lesson" for her children. The story is exquisite and full of wisdom, and the profound artistic accomplishment of the writer is reflected between the lines, which not only makes young readers memorable after reading it, but also stimulates their thinking about growth and their understanding of life.
In contrast, the adaptation of A Dream of Red Mansions for Children by Dai Yingniao, a young writer, also performed well. With profound knowledge and rigorous textual research, she extracted the essence from the original work and vividly reproduced the joys and sorrows in the Grand View Garden with clear and smooth brushwork, which is a rare adaptation. In addition, there is no hero in my family by French writer Vitca and Starry Rock by Japanese writer Jun Nasuda show the commonness of children’s growth and spiritual transformation under different cultural backgrounds, so that young readers can learn the power of growth in reading.
Pay attention to content expression, describe and present original power from multiple angles.
With the development of children’s literature in China, the content of original picture books appears broader, which is no longer confined to personal emotional expression, but pays more attention to the broad development of the times and pays attention to humanistic care for special groups. The Magpie’s Nest by Mr. Hai Fei, a senior publisher, is an original picture book masterpiece with great practical significance. With the bird’s nest that children like, it leads to a life story with a view of heaven and earth and nature, and evokes children’s respect for life. Where are you going, written by Chang Li, a writer of children’s literature, and Zhang Fan, a painter, focuses on the easily overlooked groups in society and opens a window for ordinary people to better understand the mentally handicapped.
Moreover, in the presentation of picture books, the pace of originality is bolder and more innovative, which shows the confidence and vitality of publishing children’s books in China. For example, Diary of Little Elephant, recommended by Zhong Shao, integrates popular science and fun, so that children can understand and like elephants, and establish a healthy and natural concept of caring for nature and animals from an early age. "Different 1" skillfully encourages children to show their unique self by learning the number "1" as the main story line by small animals.
Of course, the imported picture books selected this year are still commendable. Whether it is the sweetness and delicacy of the beloved Bear from Britain or the fierce shock of the Japanese work Pretending not to see it, although the theme and style are very different, they all have touching literary charm.
