At the high-level forum of international museums, Liu Yandong emphasized deepening international cooperation and promoting the prosperity and development of museums.

  Xinhua News Agency, Shenzhen, November 10th-The high-level forum of the International Museum was held in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province on the 10th. The top leader of president sent a congratulatory letter to the forum, and Vice Premier Liu Yandong of the State Council read the congratulatory letter and delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.

  Liu Yandong pointed out that it is of great significance to hold the forum on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the entry into force of the UNESCO Charter. The congratulatory letter from the Chairman of the Supreme Leader fully reflects that China attaches great importance to the cause of museums, which will certainly encourage and promote international exchanges and mutual learning in the field of cultural relics and contribute to the progress of human civilization.

  Liu Yandong emphasized that China has thousands of years of civilization inheritance, and its rich cultural heritage bears the cultural genes and spiritual symbols of the Chinese nation. China regards the development of museums as a national cultural strategy, optimizes its layout and improves its functions, thus forming a diversified museum system. The number of registered museums is 223 times that of new China in 1949, with more than 20,000 exhibitions and 700 million visitors every year. Museums are not only institutions that collect, protect, research and display cultural heritage, but also cultural services and educational institutions that serve people’s all-round development and face the future, and have played an active role in economic and social development.

  Liu Yandong pointed out that it is a common task for all countries to build, protect and make good use of museums. We should enhance the sense of community of human destiny, implement the relevant initiatives of UNESCO, deepen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of exhibitions, cultural relics protection, personnel training, application of scientific and technological achievements, and cracking down on cultural relics crimes, so that countries can enrich their collections and show greater value in the inheritance of civilization and the exchange of people’s hearts.

  The International Museum High-level Forum was jointly organized by UNESCO, China National Committee for UNESCO, National Cultural Heritage Administration and Shenzhen Municipal Governments, and attended by more than 200 world-renowned museum leaders and experts.
